Carving pumpkins, trick-or-treating, bobbing for apples, and spending quality time with friends and family… There’s a whole lot to love about Halloween. And that goes double for Halloween in South Lake Tahoe!
This October, gather your favorite people and spend a fiendishly-fun weekend at our brand-new, 4-bedroom+Loft Famous Cabin vacation home in South Lake Tahoe. Halloween weekend is still available for your group. For now!
Even better, our cabin is located right in the heart of beautiful South Shore, directly adjacent to Lakeview Commons and right across the street from El Dorado Beach, and close to some of Tahoe’s most fantastic Halloween events.
And believe us - Tahoe knows how to celebrate Halloween like nowhere else!
Here are just a few of the activities you can be a part of if you stay with us this Halloween:
Halloween Celebrations
On October 24th, dress up in your best Halloween costume and compete in the Tahoe Halloween Fun Run. Take part in one of the 5K and 10K races while going up against a field of mummies and monsters for a range of prizes, including “Best Costume”!
Later that night, get the Halloween party started at the annual adults-only Freaker’s Ball. This is Lake Tahoe’s largest, oldest and most extravagant Halloween party! The event includes a four-ring costume circus under one roof, and there’s $10,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs.
On October 30th, enjoy an evening of live music and dancing at the all-ages, ghoulishly-good Halloween Dance. The 17-piece Tahoe Dance Band provides the entertainment with plenty of wine, appetizers and desserts available throughout the evening. Costumes optional, with prizes handed out for the funniest, prettiest, sexiest, scariest and most original costume. (Hint: a white bed sheet with holes cut out for eyes probably won’t do it!)

Of course, to really enjoy the best South Lake Tahoe Halloween events, you need to be here for the big night itself
On October 31, it’s Tahoe Best Friends Howl’oween Party. If you’ve ever wanted to see a Pekinese dressed as a pumpkin, or a Doberman decked out like Dracula, this is the event for you. Adults, kids ....and dogs come dressed up at this canine-friendly party! Little ones will love the chance to take part in a range of fun contests, including musical sits and American Idol.
The kids will be dragging you along to Treat Street on October 31st. Held at Lake Tahoe Community College, local volunteers will be handing out an endless supply of candy, hot cocoa, pizza, cotton candy, popcorn and deliciously sweet s’mores. Bonus: no need to cook dinner tonight!
After some adults-only entertainment? Don’t miss The Rocking Dead Halloween Bash & Costume Contest. This glamorous event is held at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe, with live music and a costume contest held at midnight. You’ll be dead on your feet by the time the partying ends!
Relax at The Famous Cabin
After all the celebrating, apple bobbing, and trick-or-treating, our luxurious log cabin is a great place to unwind.
Relax together playing games in the cozy family room, or hold a pumpkin-carving contest in the gourmet kitchen.
When darkness falls, turn down the lights, grab some pumpkin fudge, and enjoy a spine-tingling evening watching classic Halloween movies. Scaredy-cats can hide behind the sofa. Or watch their own thing elsewhere - there’s a Smart HDTV in every room!
Games and Activities
There’s also tons of fun to be had in our light-filled Great Room. This social heart of the home has comfy couches, a huge 75” HDTV, poker table, juke box, bumper pool, foosball table and a wet bar.
Oh, and if things go bump in the night, you might want to creep up the spiral staircase to the 3rd floor. This lofty hangout has a foosball table and HDTV - making it a favorite hideaway for kids!
